Content traders are new hit makers of Bollywood

The Economic Times – 26 June 2014

Hindi film director Ashutosh Gowarikar recently bought the rights to make a film based on Marc Levy’s novel ‘Seven Days for an Eternity‘. He didn’t even had to meet the French author for the rights, thanks to The Adaptation Company, a new entity that trades in content.

Founded by Sunil Doshi, producer of films like ‘Bheja Fry‘ and ‘Mixed Doubles‘, one of the businesses of The Adaptation Company is buying intellectual property rights (IPR) of books, classic stories, foreign films and so on from multiple sources, and selling them to production houses to make films.
